I just got back from a jam session with the full band (all 3 of us) and I had an urge to update everyone. I'm so excited about this band at this point. We all have unique writing and playing styles, which gives a wide diversity to the sound, but we have managed to develop a strong chemistry between us. Chris, keyboards/guitar/vocals, is an amazing songwriter and we're currently working on learning some more of his stuff, so that we know more than just my own material. He's also a far better singer than I am, but his voice is lower and "nicer", in that I can pull off the rock sound better than he can. So we alternate, depending on who's better for the song. Ryan is a magnificent lyricist, too. Ryan and I are going to be playing a show out of his garage (because we're cheap like that) the week after Thanksgiving, which, unfortunately, we won't have enough material ready to do as a full band, but it still promises to be fun. Also, we should be recording again soon, sometime after Thanksgiving, and I'll make sure to post an update when that happens. We'll also be re-recording the songs that were already posted to incorporate the sounds that Chris brings to the table, and to reflect our growth as musicians. It's going to sound great.

So I just noticed that I have exactly 2500 pageviews, and I almost considered taking a screen capture, but then I remembered that I don't care. Let me rephrase: I appreciate everyone who takes the time to look at my deviations, but the actual number doesn't mean anything to me. If it was the total views for the entire gallery, maybe then I'd give a crap, because that might actually be an accurate measure. But I digress. I figured I'd take this opportunity to let everyone know what's going on with me these days.

So I'm absolutely swamped with projects (essays, no less), and so have taken any desire I may have to write and funneled it into essays about why the world is going to Hell and why it is my fault. So creatively, it's a miracle I've written ANYTHING. My latest post (which I'm STILL not sure about my feelings about) was more a way to fight off insomnia than a way to release creative build-up. Critique on this piece would be GREATLY appreciated, as I feel it has potential, but I'm not sure if it's ready yet.

Secondly, if you hadn't already heard, the band now has an official third member. I was going to say "official keyboardist", but, more accurately, he does "Keyboards/ Rhythm Guitar/ Vocals". And it is entirely possible that our drummer could be bringing his drum kit up over exam time and leaving it in a friend's house, meaning that we might have some more songs recorded before the end of April. More likely, we'll have drum, bass (still no bassist, by the way, in case any one has anyone who may be interested), and rhythm guitar/keyboard tracks recorded before the end of April, and my perfectionist self will be recording and re-recording my guitar and vocals for weeks.
