She was a country girl with long, curly hair
As golden as the sand on which she stood
And a smile that shone like the San Diego sun.
I was a city boy with a city girl back home.
Late one night, this little restaurant,
I sat alone with a drink in my hand.
I caught her eye and she asked me to sit.
I asked her name but I don't know what she said.
Lady Alabama, I remember you.
Looking out on the California sunset
Hoping you'd remember, too.
Lady Alabama, if it's alright,
I just wanted to tell you
That you opened my eyes that night.
Her eyes were like little blue diamonds,
Her lips were a deep cherry blossom red.
I asked what she did and where she was from.
"Alabama" was all that she said.
Lady Alabama, I remember you.
Looking out on the California sunset
Hoping you'd remember, too.
Lady Alabama, if it's alright,
I just wanted to tell you
That you opened my eyes that night.
Lady Alabama, I remember you.
Looking out on the California sunset
Hoping you'd remember, too.
Lady Alabama, if it's alright,
I just wanted to tell you
That you opened my eyes that night.
When I got back to my little city girl
Things just weren't the same.
Her eyes didn't sparkle like I thought they did,
And little by little we drifted away.
She stopped and turned on her way out the door
And she asked me why my love went dead.
I looked in her eyes and I took a deep breath.
"Alabama" was all that I said.

Then I just can never focus.
So, just so you know I'm reading your stuff, but in order to get my opinion (not that it's that important) I would have to read it in person. I'm just not good at the typing thing.
